3.5 Proposal
We are rebranding BBC One because it has kept the same Idents for a very long time now and eventually the appeal of these Idents begins to drop and people start to stop watching this channel. In order to keep the current viewers interested and involved in the channel we have to rebrand the channel. By rebranding this channel we will bring in new viewers and keep the same audience interested by using similar themes to what they are interested in. We will keep with the theme of using the circle and when new and old viewers see this they will associate this theme with the channel of BBC One. We will rebrand BBC One by making their idents less CG heavy and use real footage of circle items and objects. The different shots will show different parts of life and show how diverse and open the channel is. We will also change the logo that’s use in these Idents as the current logo is very simple and plain therefore it doesn’t quite catch the eye of the viewers and make them interested in the channel. The target audience for our Ident is people between the ages of 16 upwards. We have a very wide target audience because the channel itself appeals to a very wide range of viewers and it can appeal to all of these for various reasons such as the channels wide range in TV shows that it shows. Also the Ident itself will appeal to a wide range of people due to it showing various aspects of life that could appeal to almost anyone. In terms of key content in our ident the big theme that will be shown throughout the Ident is the idea of circles. This shows the idea of ‘’Oneness’’ and the BBC say that this is when "different groups of people coming together across the UK, united by their shared passions and interests". Each shot in our Ident will match up and the circle will remain the same size throughout the shots but it will show different objects and aspects of life.
